Fixing ActiveX ErrorsFaulty ActiveX entries in your Windows registry can result in serious errors, system failures and loss of memory and resources. Anytime you perform a corrupt install or do not uninstall a program completely, your computer runs the risk of developing an ActiveX error. ActiveX refers to a widespread technology that was created by the Microsoft Corporation. ActiveX is used to view Java applets, view special graphics on web pages and listen to sound. ActiveX is used with a wide variety of scripting languages to help create or view interactive web pages. Object Linking and Embedding and Component Object Model are the two technologies that are combined to help create ActiveX. The ActiveX technology allows programs and applications to communicate with one another freely even though they are written in different languages. When used with Microsoft Internet Explorer, ActiveX allows users to view web pages with a wide variety of sound, graphics and animations. If you are having problems viewing a site, it may be possible that you are experiencing an ActiveX error. There are many factors, but most of these problems can be easily fixed. One of the most common reasons why a person may be experiencing an ActiveX error are problems with the Internet connection. This not only applies to the Internet service provider and your browser, but it also applies to any software or applications on your computer that require a live Internet connection. If you are having ActiveX issues with different web sites, make sure that you check that your Internet connection is properly installed and configured. If you are only having ActiveX problems when logging on a specific site, then it is probably more likely that the website or the host is experiencing problems. If this is the case, you should contact the administrator of the site and give them a detailed account of the nature of the problem that you are having. Another reason why you may be getting errors in that your security settings may not be properly configured. To check your security options, click on Tools and then Internet Options. Select the Security tab and click the Custom Level option. You will then have to make sure that the Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-Ins option is enabled. This will allow your web browser to run all ActiveX controls. |
